Palestinian Crisis Dominates UN Meeting

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Diplomats mixed on Thursday, head out of a confrontation over plans to seek recognition of the United Nations for the entire small visible sign of progress and the deadline less than 24 hours away the Palestinians'.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad briefly took the spotlight at the UN General Assembly, the United States accuses of using the September 11, 2001 as a pretext to attack Iraq and Afghanistan and denounces Western support for Zionism.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is ready to submit your request to the Security Council of the United Nations on Friday, despite U.S. pressure President Barack Obama to renounce the option of the United Nations and to resume direct negotiations with Israel.

Obama meeting with Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Wednesday ended without a breakthrough, Stark showing new boundaries of U.S. influence in the spinning process in unpredictable directions.

Freed U.S. Explorers To Describe The Harrowing Ordeal In Iran

NEW YORK (AP) - Two American backpackers to be held in an Iranian prison was a big surprise one day after their exercise routine: Instead of being blindfolded and taken back to their cells, they suddenly heard the words "Let us go home. "

And a diplomatic envoy to Oman said to them before hitting them out to the airport in Tehran - and freedom, the two men said on Sunday at a press conference in Manhattan.

"After 781 days in prison, Shane and I are free men," said a jubilant Joshua Fattal, hours after he and Shane Bauer landed at Kennedy International Airport.

Safe on American soil, the two spoke publicly for the first time in their trial for over two years in the hands of the Iranians - accused of spying for the country illegally on foot along the Iran-Iraq border.

They say they simply got lost while hiking with another American Shourd, Sarah, who was released last year.

The three paid a brutal price for their adventure, they said.

"Many times, too many times, we heard screams of other detainees being beaten and there's nothing we can do to help them," Fattal said.

Bauer added: "How can we forgive when the Iranian government continues to imprison so many innocent people and prisoners of conscience?"

2 Hikers Iranian Released From Prison Return To The U.S.

NEW YORK (AP) - Two Americans detained for more than two years in an Iranian prison on espionage charges returned to the United States on Sunday, ending a diplomatic event that began with what they called a wrong turn in the wrong country.

Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer arrived at Kennedy Airport in New York at about 11:00

Both were released from prison last week. They arrived Wednesday in Oman under a handful of $ 1 million bail and were adopted by relatives.

They were arrested together with other hikers Sarah Shourd in July 2009 along the Iran-Iraq border. They say they were just hiking in the relatively peaceful region of Iraq's Kurdish and ended up in Iran may not be correct.

Fed Takes New Direction To Avoid Economic Crisis

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve Wednesday warned of significant risks to the fragile economy of the United States and launched a new plan to reduce the costs of long-term debt and strengthening the battered housing market.

The Fed said it would sell $ 400 billion of Treasury bills in the short term to buy the same amount of long-term debt of the latest attempt by the U.S. government to revive growth, which slowed to a crawl in the first half of the year.

Apparently frightened by the gloomy economic outlook of the Central Bank, the U.S. stocks have been sold. Standard & Poor's 500 Index closed almost 3 per cent.

Repair Or Replace? This Is A Good Question.

Follow the 50% rule, and these four rules for determining when to repair an object, rather than replacing it.

My grandfather Clyde was one of the handymen of all time. He could fix anything.

Before Clyde bought something, the first thing he did was ask whether he could get parts and supplies to fix it yourself when it exploded. If you answered "no", it would not buy it. If the answer was: "You do not have to worry about it, Mr. Yeager. This can not be broken, "Gramps thanks politely and sellers on foot, rather than accuse him of being a shameless liar. When grandfather Clyde was happy to say" automatic that you can not repair it yourself "and he wanted nothing to do with it.

Unfortunately, times have changed Clyde days. We now live in the world, planned obsolescence, and one in which costs more to repair most of the articles - if they can be corrected at all - to replace them. It is not only cost us more, but it is a huge waste of resources of the earth. America dumps nearly 2,000 monuments to be sad as our throw-away society and culture.

But sometimes you pay more - financially, and of course the environment - to repair rather than replace, though not as convenient as Clyde and having to pay someone to fix it for you. Here are some basic rules on whether to repair or replace:

The 50% Rule:

Financial experts talk about "50% rule" when deciding whether or not it is more cost effective to repair rather than replace point. The conventional wisdom was that if the repair was estimated at 50% or less the amount you pay for an item, usually it was the best way to repair. It is always a good guide to take into account, although many consumer products (appliances, furniture, appliances, including clothes) have declined steadily in price (in dollars adjusted for inflation) in recent generations. So now, to be precise, the 50% rule should be based on replacement value, the purchase price is not original, or even in the current estimated market value or resale value of the most important items, as cars. Anyway, it's just a rule of thumb among many other considerations.

Enjoy score:

Before you decide to replace something rather than repair, think carefully about what you think of throwing may appreciate in value over time. In the case of a well made piece of furniture that will become an antique, choose repair, it is probably obvious. But it can not always be as clear: When they needed repair, I wanted so much to live up to the stereo speakers bulky old, my father gave me when I was a teenager, and buy some trendy new (cheap) to those of Kmart. But Dad would not let me, now, these JBL speakers are classics and worth almost as much as my 401k (unfortunately, in this sense).

Around the house:

Well done, older devices may be worth the cost of repair (if you can still find parts and someone to do the job), but keep in mind that older devices use much more energy than models new (see energystar.gov), so the final cost is often more effective to replace them when they need repair. On the other hand, replace old windows in your house (if still running) with higher energy efficiency can not be a good investment, having a number of years in most cases to recover the initial investment. What about the roof over your head? Investing in the maintenance and repair of the roof, large enough to extend the life of a roof - if you are in a healthy in general - is often more profitable, especially for areas of large roof.

Rags or riches:

When it comes to clothes, should be primarily to take care of him (do not use the dryer!) For the latter, instead of investing in the repair. Because most non-designer clothing are relatively cheap, it is generally cheaper to buy something new when clothes are worn. Even if you put on a few pounds, tailoring clothing in general has economic sense with clothing upscale unless you're a seamstress herself.

E 'connected?:

A friend of mine who owns an electronics repair company, once told me that almost half of all the elements that people bring in their store are simply suffering from a bad cable electric, plug, or connection problem or something well with a simple solution such as cleaning an air filter or replace a belt. If so, the relief will save you major currencies (see?). But if it is more important and requires special parts, including my friend admits that newer electronic products are so cheap it's probably not worth repairing.

Afghans Mourn Slain Former President Of The World Day Of Peace

Perry Blasts Obama's Middle East Policy

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry strongly hope President Obama to the treatment of Israeli-Palestinian relations on Tuesday, accusing Obama of "appeasement policy" towards the Palestinians that he said was undermining U.S. security interests in the Middle East.

The governor of Texas against the Obama administration - which has tried to counter the UN vote for a Palestinian state this week and resume peace talks - was encouraging Palestinians to flee into direct negotiations with Israel.

Perry, a top competitor for the 2012 Republican presidential candidate said the U.S. should reconsider its support to the Palestinians and the close of business of the Palestinian Authority in Washington, where President Mahmoud Abbas succeeds in his quest for the official recognition of the state during the session this week the UN General Assembly.

He Killed The Dinosaur Origin Of Asteroids Is Still A Mystery

The origin of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, remains a mystery, a new study.

Some researchers believed that the asteroid was a killer piece of a large asteroid called Baptistina. Baptistina disintegrated after a massive collision in the space of about 160 million years, the theory went, spawning a swarm of mountain-sized chunks of rock. One of them, which eventually slammed into Earth, killing the dinosaurs and many other species.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The military "Do not ask, do not say" the right of homosexuals are doomed to fail as scheduled on Tuesday, the military said, ending a 17-year rule, full of controversy.

Pentagon spokesman, George Little, said Monday that the repeal of the law would mean gay service members and lesbians can be open about their sexual orientation, according to the press service of the Armed Forces.

Petit said the Defense Department was prepared for the repeal.

"This is something that is known for a long time," he was quoted as saying. "We went through the process of witnessing the repeal."

Barack Obama President signed in December to repeal the ban into law in December. More than 13,000 gay men were expelled from the army for his services to disclose their sexual orientation, since the policy came into force in 1993 under President Bill Clinton.

Abbas Rejects Palestinian Candidature To The UN, Despite Warnings

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the UN chief seeks all UN members and a Palestinian state, a stage for the showdown that could undermine decades of Middle East diplomacy.

United States and Israel, the Palestinian state should emerge from the peace talks between Palestinians and Israel, which would be impossible if the Palestinians declare a state by itself. Washington has promised to veto, as in Palestine, at the request of the UN Security Council.

Palestinians say peace talks brokered by the United States have failed, in part due to the continued building of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, leaving no choice but to apply for recognition of Israel without waiting to reach an agreement.

Abbas said that the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon on Monday that it will continue with its plans to seek a Security Council vote Friday on Palestinian adherence.

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said the diplomats were still hoping to avoid a crisis. A vote would be unlikely to take place on Friday, giving time for diplomacy to revive the peace talks, he said on Europe 1.

The Pentagon May Delay Work On More Than 100 F-35 Fighter

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senior Pentagon officials are considering postponing the production of an additional 100 fighters F-35 Lockheed Martin Corp. as part of a five-year plan of defense will be sent to Congress, according to three people familiar with the program.

"No decision is likely to be held until November or December, but is clearly an important option to assist the Ministry of Defense to comply with the mandates of the savings under the control of the budget," said one person who was not authorized to speak on the subject.

The program has already been revised twice in the last two years, postponing the production of more than 224 combat aircraft radar-evasion - which usually moves to raise the price of each aircraft in the short term.

"Hits" Of The Pump Laser To Detect Molecules

A laser beam which vibrates the molecules could help to detect improvised explosive devices, the researchers say.

Each molecule vibrates with a single frequency - so that the laser can "feel" the bombs during the mass digitization of a safe distance.

The team's work at Michigan State University, is another attempt to reduce the number of deaths caused by bombs in places like Afghanistan.

The research appears in the journal Applied charts.

Improvised explosive device a homemade bomb and more than half of the deaths of coalition soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan is the result of an IED.

The lead developer of the laser sensor, Dr. Marcos said Dantus IED detection have always been a challenge because the environment of compounds that mask the molecules bomb.

U.S. President Barack Obama is planning to have a higher minimum rate for the wealthiest Americans so that they are taxed at the same speed as the poor.

What this country the most prosperous people to hang out? How much money do they have? President Obama wants to pay a little 'more in taxes. But because they are coughing now?

The answers to these questions can be extracted from a database rarely used statistics from the IRS income tax. Yields on income and income classification and zip code.

Be wary of releasing any data that might reveal something about individual taxpayers, the IRS slices of his stats in wide ranges. In this data set of the upper income of $ 200,000 or more. Except, perhaps, a politician in search of increased revenues, it can hardly be described as a wealthy taxpayer.
