A woman from Guyana Kaieteur News Service quoted described hearing loud noise when it landed in Guyana, and said that it all started screaming.
"It 'was horror," he said. "I prayed to Jesus."
Her husband opened the emergency door and the passengers began to flee, he said.
Rescuers struggled in darkness to free the passengers from the wreckage.
One woman described how a taxi driver came to the scene before the emergency services and the burden of being pushed to the terminal.

Kristopher Kimlin, who was on the plane crashed, but was trying to fly from the airport, told the BBC there was "chaos" after the accident.
