Consumer Reports recently asked more than 1,200 people the same question, and 90 percent of their diet was ranked somewhere between "somewhat" or "very" healthy. (That sounds promising, until you find that 90 percent of Americans also list themselves as "above average" drivers!)
Indeed, most of us believe that we are eating healthy. Be really aware of what we eat is one of the biggest challenges we face, particularly in a culture that believes a "value meal" is one in which we pay hard earned money more than empty, fat calories generation. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that between 1977 and 1996, the average soft rose 34 percent, cheese is an increase of 39 percent, and salty snacks increased on average a total of 70 percent.
