Insomnia is a sleep or staying asleep. In many cases, can be alleviated with certain medications or behavioral changes. Consult a doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:

Here are some simple tips for a good night:

If possible, go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.

Avoid activities such as eating and working in bed.

Avoid strenuous exercise 2 hours before bedtime.

Avoid caffeinated drinks and alcoholic beverages in the evening.

Avoid eating heavy meals at least 2 hours before going to bed.

Develop a routine of going to bed that includes calming, relaxing activities.

Make sure the sleep environment is quiet, dark, and has a comfortable temperature.

Do something relaxing before bedtime (such as reading or taking a bath), so you do not dwell on matters of interest. Watching TV or using a computer can be difficult for some people and affect your ability to sleep. If you can not fall asleep within 30 minutes, get up and move to another room and engage in quiet activity until you feel sleepy.

A method of preventing worries keep you awake is to keep a diary before going to bed. List of all issues that matter. By this method, you transfer your worries from your thoughts on paper, leaving your mind quieter and more ready to sleep.

While 7-8 hours a night is recommended for most people, children and teens need more. Older people tend to do well with less sleep at night, but still requires about 8 hours of sleep for a period of 24 hours. The quality of sleep is as important as how much sleep you get.
